Powering the Xtreme 160R is a refined 163cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, 2-valve, single-cylinder OHC engine equipped with Programmed Fuel Injection (FI) with 14 intelligent sensors. Producing 15.2 PS of power at 8,500 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm, it is paired with a crisp 5-speed constant-mesh gearbox. Hero focused engineering efforts entirely on low-to-mid range grunt: the bike rockets from 0 to 60 km/h in an official 4.7 seconds, making it one of the quickest accelerating motorcycles away from traffic lights in the 160cc class, while returning a realistic fuel economy of 45 to 48 km/l.

The front end is supported by stout 37 mm telescopic forks, while the rear suspension features a 7-step rider-adjustable monoshock.
