KEY TAKEAWAY & EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The 2027 Kawasaki Z650 S costs ₹7.59 lakh ex-showroom, ₹33,000 more than the outgoing Z650. Its engine output is unchanged; the meaningful differences are the redesigned bodywork, a 15 mm taller seat and 5 kg more kerb mass.

2027 Kawasaki Z650 S price in India

India Kawasaki Motors lists the 2027 Z650 S at ₹7,59,000 ex-showroom in Pearl Blizzard White/Candy Lime Green. That is ₹33,000, or about 4.5%, above the outgoing Z650's ₹7,26,000 ex-showroom price. The comparison is between manufacturer-listed prices; it does not include registration, insurance or accessories.

The price change matters because the engine is not larger or more powerful. The Z650 S retains a 649cc liquid-cooled parallel twin rated at 68 PS and 64 Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. On paper, the premium is for the revised motorcycle around that familiar powertrain.

What changed from the outgoing Z650

Kawasaki's 2027 model has wider, more angular bodywork and a wider, more forward-leaning handlebar. The seat is now 805 mm high, up 15 mm from the outgoing model's 790 mm, while kerb mass rises from 188 kg to 193 kg. Those figures are more useful to a prospective owner than styling language alone: a taller seat can affect reach to the ground, and extra mass is noticeable when backing or manoeuvring a bike at a standstill.

The engine figures and six-speed transmission carry over. TFT instrumentation, smartphone connectivity and Kawasaki Traction Control were also listed for the outgoing Z650, so buyers should not count those items as wholly new equipment on the S. Kawasaki lists the quickshifter as an accessory; confirm its availability and fitted price with the dealer.

Where the ₹33,000 premium may make sense

The increase is about 4.5% over the old listed price. A buyer who prefers the new bodywork and finds the more forward riding position comfortable may consider that a fair trade. A rider choosing mainly for a power increase will not find one in the published engine figures. We have not road-tested the 2027 model, so we cannot judge whether the revised riding position changes comfort or handling on Indian roads.

Before booking, sit on the motorcycle in riding boots and check your reach, then take a test ride if a dealer demonstrator is available. Ask for a written on-road quote and itemise insurance, registration, accessories and any quickshifter separately. The ex-showroom figure alone is not the amount payable.

How it fits beside bikes already listed on BikersDunia

The Kawasaki Ninja 500 in our catalogue is a smaller-capacity, faired Kawasaki, so it is a useful brand alternative for shoppers prioritising a sportbike shape, but it is not a direct Z650 S substitute. The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is closer in engine capacity, though its retro-roadster design and riding brief differ. Compare the intended riding position and total ownership costs, not displacement alone.
